it's been fun being part of Europe. The company was wonderful, the food great, the chance to travel unhindered through borders superb, the culture stupendous.
Alas, alas.
However the bankers need looked after. The Square Mile is the most important piece of the whole planet.
What would we do without the income?
Who would we look up to?
How would the political parties be funded?
Who could the politicians be answerable to?
Would the sun still rise?
Would there be any joy in the world?
Apparently Nick Clegg is furious about this. Frankly I don't care how fucking furious he is, it pales into insignificance with my towering rage.
I do not give a shit about the Square Mile. My income is not dependant on that and the bastards will already have stolen my pension before I get it.
I do not give a shit about the right wing raving maniacs in the Tory party.
I don't give a shit about that nasal wee muppet at the front of the Labour party.
I care about the hundreds and thousands who will be unemployed and possibly starving if we are SO INCREDIBLY EGOTISTICAL AND JINGOISTICALLY ARROGANT to think the Americans will even speak to us if we are out of Europe.
I care about the hundreds and thousands who will be unemployed and possibly starving if we are SO INCREDIBLY EGOTISTICAL AND JINGOISTICALLY ARROGANT to think that British agriculture can feed us after 40 years of CAP.
I care about the hundreds and thousands who will be unemployed and possibly starving if we are SO INCREDIBLY EGOTISTICAL AND JINGOISTICALLY ARROGANT to think that Europe will buy our goods.
I care about the hundreds and thousands who will be unemployed and possibly starving if we are SO INCREDIBLY EGOTISTICAL AND JINGOISTICALLY ARROGANT to think that the Chinese and Indians will invest in manufacturing in a country which DOESN'T have free trade access in Europe.
We aren't Norway. We squandered the oil massaging Thatchers ego. We aren't Iceland as there isn't a politician in this country with guts.
I live in a country where it is LEGAL to charge 4000% on short term loans.
I live in a country with damn near more CCTV cameras than people.
I live in a country where the USA can demand we hand over citizens who have committed no crime in this country for sentencing into the US dungeons.
If I may offer some gentle advice to our supposed leaders, and maybe a Merchant Bankster will read this,
GET A FUCKING GRIP!
We are a small wet island off the North coast of Europe.
They don't need us.
We sure as hell need them.
Cameron, GET YOUR NOSE OUT THE BANKERS ARSES AND KISS AND MAKE UP WITH THE LITTLE EMPEROR.
If you don't, we haven't got the Generals to win Waterloo again and Blucher/Merkel won't bring the Prussian battalions to save us.
Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it? Sometimes history can change!

A quiet week?
It’s had the feel of a quiet week this week!
Don’t know why but that’s just how it has come across.
And yet……
Massive strike which either cost the country ½ a billion pounds or was a damp squib (both comments came from David Cameron)
Leveson inquiry heard that phone hacking was rife and seemed to be accepted practice.
COP17 disappeared completely from the news even though 2011 is going down as one of the 10 hottest years on record.
There were floods and gales in Scotland
There is going to be a drought in England .
Unless someone sees sense there is going to be a war with Syria , then Iran and possibly Russia .
And the Euro is collapsing with the possibility of France going bankrupt.
As I said, a quiet week.
When I was a child, many years ago now, a severe weather event was rare. We talked about the snow in 1963 ( first time I ever saw it). We talked about the storm which blew slates off roofs in Glasgow in 1969. We even talked about the long hot summer of 1976, never mind the icy winter of 78.
Those were rare events. Even the 87 big storm which made Sevenoaks Threeoaks and destroyed the whole of civilisation (sorry affected South East England) was rare.
Now we have flooding every year. Landslips on roads have become commonplace. Railways very rarely pulled the service, now it’s common.
There has undoubtedly been a change in climate which NO BUGGER will recognise. The only issues of note seem to be either screw the people who work in the public sector or panic about the possibility of reduced profits in the banks.
We seem as a race to be hell bent on suicide. We are refusing to do anything which might affect “confidence in the markets”. Bankers are quietly, steadily and remorselessly taking over governance in countries round the world. Elected politicians are frankly toothless and ineffective, far more concerned about grovelling to their paymasters than serving the public they were put there to represent. Journalists are either castigating or defending their colleagues who are self evidently indefensible as they have displayed not only immorality and criminal activity on a massive scale, but were also too stupid to not get caught.
A “TV personality” called Jeremy Clarkson said on screen that the strikers “should be taken out and shot in front of their families”. One of the unions involved is apparently looking at legal action. This proves two things. The first is that the guy is a dickwad, though given his previous foot in mouth comments that shouldn’t be a surprise. The second is that no-one seems to have realised that he IS a dickwad and should be ignored with yapping curs.
In the meantime the rain and wind keep coming, more and more people fry starve or die of ignorance, politicians and journalists prove they aren’t up to the task and prices keep rising to increase the bank accounts of the mega rich.
As I said, a quiet week.

THE PRESS ARE THICK, DISCUSS
I’m worried. Genuinely worried.
I had always thought that it was only an arrogance of mine to think people were stupid. Now I’ve realised it’s a racial characteristic. By racial I mean the genus Homo. All of us. The entire species.
What set me off again?
Climategate of course.
A blind man with no hearing can sense a change in the weather. We’re getting droughts, storms, heavy snow, heat, animals vegetables and fish moving habitats. Plants flowering early. Birds migrating late.
No no no. It’s all about the wording in a few emails between scientists. There is a Welsh comedian who did a great skit about the gift shop on the Titanic. This strikes me as so similar. For those who are into films, the dinner sequence in Carry on up the Khyber. Only one wee problem. The Foot and Mouth lifting their kilts won’t solve this one.
Global warming and climate change are real, measurable, observable effects. Just because a scientist mentions politics doesn’t change that FACT. Of course there are politics. Science and academia is full of it. So is every work place. It doesn’t matter WHAT you know, its WHO you know. If your entire career is based on producing verifiable checkable, peer reviewed data you’ll spend 3 days carefully noting H2O concentrations within the atmosphere before you’ll admit it’s raining!
Inertia and ignorance in the general population I can understand and accept. After all there is a huge industry playing psychological games to get us to accept stuff as necessary. It’s called advertising. I do bang on about X factor being bread and circuses but the fact I even use that analogy shows it’s at least 2000 years old.
Refutation I don’t understand. The people who do this are labelled sceptics. No they aren’t. A sceptic can say “ show me” and be convinced. They wouldn’t believe you no matter what you did. There are a couple of professors of psychology who are trotted out as sceptics to provide “ balance” on a lot of programs Everything is apparently in the mind, no matter what the physical evidence. The best example I know is crop circles. There is scientific evidence in some of the plants, in some of the circles of changes in the plant biology which is currently inexplicable. That is usually ignored. Some nutter pops up and yatters on about spirits and feelings. One of these professors does an unrelated experiment on camera and says there you go. Some other twat with a plank says its all him and ergo crop circles are solved.
Similar with climate change. Ignore the evidence, no matter how convincing. Someone says in a private email “watch the politics” so climate change is either a hoax or the prevailing paradigm.
No-one can understand that politics is rife. It’s been rife since we started living in groups, probably 3 million years ago. It’s still rife in our closest cousins. Chimps Gorillas and Bonobos all work on a political system. A wolf pack works on a political system. The bloody press who cause most of the problem work on a political system.
If they said “ watch the science” then I’d be worried. So, can we PLEASE move past this and look at the important stuff. There is a difference between climate and weather. Weather we get every day. Climate is harder to grasp. It’s getting wetter in a lot of places and drier in others. There is more snow in some places and more heat in others. Hurricanes and tropical storms are changing patterns and ferocity.
So what you say and therein lies the rub. We won’t get politicians and business leaders to do anything which may affect profits until its kicking our door in. By that time its too late!
We MUST waken up now and start making changes.
We are not divorced from Nature. Nature is neither external from us nor a kindly mother figure changing our nappy. Nature is where we come from, where we live and what we depend on for EVERYTHING.
Milk in a crate is NOT A COWS NEST. Bread does NOT GROW ON TREES.
Meat IS NOT MADE IN A FACTORY.
If you won’t do anything else, at least realise the consequences of your actions. If your great grandchildren are ever born they could be living in a yurt in northern Siberia as the only habitable area on Earth.
WAKE UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

ok so i'm slightly calmer now
Where was I? Oh yes the IPCC report.
The IPCC are saying that we could get more extreme weather events due to global warming. BFD say most people. Unfortunately it IS a big deal. For the IPCC to say that lots of governments with no interest in climate change have had to agree to it being said. Given that, in diplomatic terms, an agreement on the weather outside the building they are meeting in can be problematic that is quite a big deal. Unfortunately it is written in diplomatese though so can be interpreted any way anyone wants.
So here is my go.
We have successfully reached the point where we are in imminent danger of producing an unlivable planet and thus wiping out our own species.
Clear enough?
Some background reading for you.
There is a book by Fred Pearce called "The Last Generation" or if you are in North America "With Speed and Violence". Read it. Think about it. Then tell me we can carry on with business as usual.
Another for you. " the end of the Long Summer" by Diane Dumanovski.
I'll give you a precis. The climate in the past has changed significantly in 1-3 years. It can go from ice age to what we have now in 20-30 years or possibly quicker.
A guy called Arrenhuis PROVED, none of this denier pseudoscience crap here, PROVED if you increase greenhouse gases the world will warm.
Greenhouse gases are up to 395 ppm now. That's 60% higher than before the industrial revolution. That MUST scientifically have an effect. The only problem ( and only actual argument in climate science) is we don't know how bad it will be.
It is CERTAIN that some of the low lying island states will disappear. No if, no but, no maybe. They are GONE.
It is CERTAIN that our climate, where we live, wherever that may be, WILL change.
It is CERTAIN that the climate is ALREADY CHANGING. If you doubt this just ask someone in Texas.
It is CERTAIN that if we carry on the way we have been we DO NOT KNOW what legacy we leave our children and grandchildren.
It is CERTAIN that politics as usual does not even grasp that there is a problem. This CANNOT be solved by a couple of longlife light bulbs and a reusable plastic bag.
Unfortunately when we need real leaders with real ideas we end up with technocrats who apply in triplicate for permission to blow their own nose. We also, unfortunately, have a tightly controlled press who report to owners who LOVE the jetset lifestyle and who's motto should genuinely be " Apre-moi la deluge"
Let me give you a couple of links. If you got this far you may use them!
http://irregularclimate.planet3.org/

I think that's about enough for my rant for the day.
I'll talk food shortages next time.
If you don't like what I say, tell me. Always game to convert!

its the end of the world as we know it
or maybe not or it might be or we think it could be one of a range of alternatives or at least we are considering possibly discussing it maybe for future inclusion at some future time ( possibly).
I know I'm a moaning faced old git but frustration strikes hard sometimes. IPCC says it might get worse. The wanking bankers say they're struggling. Food prices are soaring. Unemployment in the UK is now at 2.5 million. Don't worry though, the Big Society will fix all.
In the interim lets deal with the important stuff.
Who'se going to win X factor?
Which female newsreader won the Children in Need Strictly Dance Off?
Is Sepp Blatter out of touch?
Has everyone switched their fucking brains off and swallowed this horseshit?
Lets start with IPCC. All their documents are approved by every country siging them so you already know that their worst case scenario is that everything will be fine if we keep doing wha we are doing. Any half respectable climate scientist will amit privately that it looks more and more like we have actually succeeded in putting in place the tools for our own racial destruction. Damn we're good. The Anthropicine, if there is anyone to remember it,will undoubtedly be remembered for the greatest display of hubris ever. If you really do want to find out what could happen to the climate, Google Alex Smith or Dan Moutal.
I DARE YOU!!!
I was going to more with this post but instead I'll go and lie down in a dark room for a while.

To Carbon capture or not?
So Hunterston power station with carbon capture plans has been rejected by the local council.
I’m not actually sure how I feel about that. One less coal fired power station can only be good but at least they were proposing doing something about emissions. For those of you not in Scotland , my sympathies of course, you probably aren’t aware there is a plan to retrofit carbon capture at Peterhead power station as well. Unfortunately the greenest government ever ( pre-election promise of the current cowboys) stopped a plan at Longannet on cost grounds and I fear Peterhead will go the same way.
In the meantime efforts to encourage small scale home production of electricity have been dampened by withdrawal of a subsidy to give extra payment for excess sent to the National Grid and Scotland is growing wind turbines faster than midges can breed.
The cost of power and fuel continues to soar, its still a case of taking your life in your hands by cycling, and hydro-electricity is not classed as renewable energy.
I live on the Northeast coast, supposedly in the driest place in Scotland , and can confirm from personal experience the one thing we are certain to renew is water!
It is getting wetter and whether you subscribe to Type I slowly warmer and wetter or Type II sudden and abrupt, or even the European mini ice-age theory, every single model says where I live will be wet.
There are hundreds and hundreds of small streams, all cheerfully following the hydrological cycle, burbling quietly out the bogs and off the hills, nearly all of whom could support a multitude of tiny generators humming quietly and producing a couple of kilowatts per 200 metres, shipped out by discreet underground cables, but policy dictates mega schemes owned by the big 6 power companies and the import of LPG by tanker from the Middle East. In addition we are driving massive power cables through the middle of some of the best scenery in the world. Apparently its all for the greater good, but you can’t help wondering if the greater good is actually profits for the energy sector.
I’m a great one for quoting Orwell as I firmly believe 1984 is being used as a blueprint, but maybe we should be looking more to Asimov and his Foundation series. There the premise is that the Galactic Empire has become so large and so fixated on massive projects it is crumbling from within. The heroes of the piece think small and make do with limited resources. Could there be a lesson for us all?

some Australian good news?
The Australian government have passed a carbon tax law.
On the face of it that should be good news but there has to be somebody making money somewhere and my natural pessimism kicks in.
I hope it will reduce emissions but can't help but feel it will just mean someboy somewhere getting richer.
On a local note, a program from the BBC on Sunday night entitled Will It Snow? carried an interview with someone from the Met Office who suggested a milder wet winter. A guy from a major supermarket chain said they were told snow in late November. Who to believe? Scientists who got it wrong 2 years on the trot or a guy who'se profits depend on accurate weather.
Looking out my thermals!

Ah gie up!!!!
It's official. I'm now medically confused.
What put me over the edge and back to blogging was the news that last year greenhouse gas emissions ROSE by 6%.
We are beyond doubt the stupidest ape on the planet. What is more concerning is that not only have we the capacity to wipe ourselves out, we are cheerfully romping down that route without a care.
In the interim, we have obsessed about a group of children ( sorry World Leaders) playing fantasy monopoly money games in a resort in the South of France, castigated a Prime Minister because God forbid, in the home of democracy he thought to exercise some, and totally missed another spoilt child called Netanyahu asking his parliament for permission to play with his soldier set against Iran.
It isn't even apres-moi la deluge, it's fuck it lets have a deluge and buy our way out.
A large group of people round the world have come onto the streets and said " ENOUGH".
Their erstwhile leaders said " Police, CHARGE".
Democracy in action indeed. Were I a deity, I'd either wander off into the cosmos whistling or shake this fucking planet until its teeth rattle.
We have ONE planet.
No deus ex machina will clean it up.
We are literally risking our very existence.
Why isn't everyone on the street protesting?
Sorry, interrupts Strictly and X factor.

Thin end of the wedge?
Russia Today are reporting that a ban on marches will be in place for a month in 6 London boroughs, supposedly to prevent the English Defence League from marching through Tower Hamlets.Personal opinion? Scary stuff.
I hold no candle for the EDL. Let them be seen and anyone with half a brain will realise what morons they truly are. What concerns me is the principle. Give the authorities this and next will be no marches or protests anywhere. Then comes removal of the right to strike. Then comes removal of the right to think differently from the authorities.
Extreme? Think it through yourself
I repeat again and again, 1984.

the truth will out
saw an iinterview on BBC News 24 last night from the Lib Dem conference. The interviewee was George Jones I'm sure his name is, who is an experienced reporter and is apparently sitting on the the government riots cover up panel, ( sorry investigation). He was quoting Paddy Ashdown that people better get used to power shifting to India and China after 400 years of the West running things,
People better get used. Hmm.
What next?
We must resist? National security demands we do something or other. Sino Indinan forces are massing. We must endure shortages?
Seems we are creating yet another hegemonous block and the public are to be brainwashed into seeing things a certain way.
I repeat one I've used earlier with no apology what so ever.
1984 was a WARNING not a blueprint.
The creation in the public mind of huge faceless power blocks seems to be laying the groundwork for external enemy forces to control the populace " for your comfort and safety".
If you haven't read the Report from Iron Mountain may I recommend it.
True or fiction it paints a realistic picture of what our supposed betters are up to.
Happy nightmares

Oh help ma boab!!!
Either I'm turning funny in my old age or the propaganda from the NWO mob is getting to the " they'll take anything just punt it out" stage.
Made the mistake of catching sight of X Factor while my better half was glued to it and it was schmaltz by the JCB load.
People in tears all over the place and long lingering camera shots trying as hard as possible to force us into empathising and snivelling away too.
Also just had another viral email about war art. Suppose that's to make me feel martial and grateful "our boys" are defending me, strangely against the Germans and Japanese who I thought were now our allies!!
I feel so sorry for those service people dumped in Afghanistan in a war they don't understand and are unlikely to win. Wonder if HMG will shaft them even further while they are overseas?
In the interim now Plod are trying to force Grauniad ( yes I have been known to read Private Eye) journalists into forcing them to reveal sources.
indexoncensorship.org/2011/09/index
They also complain they cant access names and addresses from Google Twitter et al. just to ensure in this fair and balanced democracy we live in the correct point of view is expressed to the masses.
Better stop now and go and snivel at X Factor.
PS now on Twitter @auldearnbadger.

I really really don't believe the arrogance of this
It turns out the Arab Spring was a direct result of the Bush Doctrine. Don't believe me? Read the papers.
It had sod all to do with a tripling of the price of food, sod all to do with a repressive Egyptian government, sod all to do with the courage of other north Africans and sod all to do with the basic decency of people.
It was the Bush Ideal.
Enough, please, enough.
For your own sake educate yourself.
Read 1984.
Find out about food shortages round the world.
http://thecomingcrisis.blogspot.com/2011/09/reality-of-food-scarcity-famine-and.html
Find out about the obscenity of $14 billion in bankers bonuses when the Horn of Africa is starving.
Find out about oil.
Find out about climate change.
Find out about Halliburton profits.
Find out about being required to show a passport for internal flights.
Find out about 9/11.
I know what happened that day. Over 3000 people were killed.
I know when it happened. I know how it happened. Two planes hit WTC, something hit the Pentagon and 4 flights disappeared.
I don't know why and I don't know who.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
I do know, if we do nothing we will starve unless we pay Monsanto ( find out yourself).
I do know if we carry on with fluoride in the water supply we will all die idiots ( find out yourself)
I do know the legacy we leave our children and grandchildren will be toxic.
It is up to us whether that is toxic but improving or toxic and getting worse.
Find out for yourself.

hooray!!!! Tony is back!!!!!
and we're going to invade Iran. Yippeee!!!!!.
That will solve everything.
Is it just me or are our erstwhile leaders now openly insane?
I watched Bush ( shrub not pere) being interviewed about his memories of 9/11. It astonishes me he can remember his own name never mind make informed decisions under pressure. He can't even pronounce words!! Watch it yourself and see. His main concern was that he, his spouse ( his word) and their two dogs (both named) were disturbed the following night by an alert.
I think he said " fog of war" and " war leader" about 15 times. Must have been a thick fog to point the blame at Iraq!!
He also tried in his clumsy fashion to tie in Iraq to 9/11. he then went on about Saddam not complying even though he had. A guy called Scott Ritter is still suffering for stating the obvious. Saddam saw the way the wind was blowing and dumped his WMD to try and save himself.
Meantime there is an alert in New york and Washington. The cynical might say it's just to remind people the country is fighting trrists (I said I was watching Bush), and the gullible will think it real.
My real and abiding fear is it will produce a dirty bomb which will magically be traced scientifically to Tehran and let TEOTWAWKI commence.
They killed Osama, despite a strong probability he was dead for years.
They need a new enemy now to justify the intrusiver and oppresive behaviour of the powers that be. they also need to kick start the world economy and a good war will do that.
I hope I'm just a paranoid delusionist. I'm scared I'm not.
That will solve everything.
Is it just me or are our erstwhile leaders now openly insane?

a big boy did it and ran away
so Blair thinks it isn't a moral decline. Cameron thinks it's the Human Rights act. Umpteen people think it's disconnected yoofff.
As the straws float past you can see them reach up and grasp anything to try and explain the riots.
There is even a video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMvuoGji3yU
No-one seems prepared to admit that the looters looted because they could!!
It wasn't food shops that were raided. It wasn't essential stuff for life. It was 42 inch plasma telly's. It was fancy clothes. It was fancy trainers.
It certainly wasn't disaffected yoofff 'cos the weren't getting Education Maintenance Grants!
It was a ballerina, students, thugs, primary school classroom assistants and God knows who else.
Now we need new laws. Soon we'll need new police powers and the public will not smugly and think
"That'll larn 'em"
No one will ever admit it is clearly the example held up in society as Thatcher removed that argument by saying there was no such thing.
Bankers and MPs on the take.
Social norms to be half dressed and a sexual object, male or female.
Get rich quick and be famous as aspirational objectives. 10.5 million people watching ritual public humiliation dressed up a entertainment and called the X Factor. I recall the Simpsons where Marge is told the pre teen slut look is further into the shop.
Meantime we end up with no Human Rights and increased police powers and thank the government for bringing them in!!!
It can't just be me surely!!!
Michael Moore warned that it wouldn't take much for us to end up in a dictatorship. A few scares and terrorist incidents and we'd go there, not resisiting but begging for protection. he was unfortunately right.
It is a truism that no matter the result of an election the government always gets in.
We're now at a dangerous point where we could lose it all. We need to watch and act with care.

well then!!!!!
No posts for a wee while but not because of lack of subject matter.
I really don't know what to say about the recent riots in England because to me it sums up, whatever may be deemed the causes, the I ME MYSELF problem in modern society.
There are no doubt all sorts of social moral and economic reasonings behind the looting but given that, it isn't difficult for even the most perverse mindset to be aware that looting is actually criminal and shouldn't really be practiced. Never mind their rights, what about their responsibilities.
It seems to me we are witnessing the commencement of the breakdown in civilisation which will come one day. I had hoped it wouldn't be for many years yet but now I'm not so sure.
Unfortunately prior to this was Norway. I cannot say more than to extend my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to the families caught up in the actions of this madman.

naval gazing for beginners
Apparently there is an issue about press/police/parliamentarian links and cliques.
Nothing else going on from the British media. Anywhere. In the world.
In the meantime this big ol' world keeps spinnin' around and the USA has a major heatwave affecting 33 states.
They also have flooding in Vancouver, Canada.
Huge Category 4 Typhoon Ma-on is heading for Japan, where they already have the small matter of melting reactors, tens of thousands homeless and who know what else.
In Scotland in the last few days floods and landslips have happened in Perth and Inverness.
http://thecomingcrisis.blogspot.com/2011/07/homes-and-roads-flooded-in-inverness_17.html
I'm 20 miles from Inverness and it's chucking it down as I type.
This is the driest place in Scotland.
Climate change IS HAPPENING. The weird weather they promised is HAPPENING.
I don't know if it's man made, the start of a Maunder minimum, a Milankovitch event or a Hollywood movie.
I DON'T CARE!!!!!!!
We need to stop naval gazing and scoring tiny political points on whether someone said may or will. We need to remind scientists that they do science and report what they find. We especially need to remind some to approach it with an open mind or they are certain to find what they are looking for.
It doesn't matter a tuppenny toss that sea level rise has slowed down over the last 8 years. It matters even less whether we face warming or cooling or sod all the kind.
We have crapped on our own doorstep and polluted the only planet we have to such an extent that we have no boltholes left.
We are so fixated on continual growth that we have forgotten we have finite resources.
Money is no longer the root of all evil.
Money is now ALL!!
A certain oil company announced 3 month profits of 10 BILLION dollars.
In the meantime 10 MILLION people are starving in the Horn of Africa.
However, not to worry.
David Cameron employed a journalist who may have been dodgy and everyone else can stand up and say " I told you so" and then we can all go home for tea and muffins!
Alternatively, vote with your feet. Don't buy papers who naval gaze, don't watch crappy news programmes, do get your pens and keyboards busy and annoy your elected representatives by reminding them that's what they are and we can un-elect them just as quick. Do shop sensibly and responsibly. Do keep your food miles down.
Remember, there is no " Deus ex machina" to solve this. There may not be a solution.
All I can do as an individual is my best.
All you can do as an individual is your best.
At lease do that.

New World Order?
New World disorder more like.
With the current stushie about the Murdochs plus Obama playing brinkmanship with the Republican extremists and organisations I'd never heard of ( and I'll bet you neither) such as Moodies about to shove us head first into yet another global crisis by downgrading a countries credit rating, Italy or the US, take your pick. If this is a cunning plan it's from a seriously convoluted mind.
Useless eaters we may be but even a chemically stupefied ill educated mob will wake up at some point and ask what happened. We can only hope it's before the tipping point, not after.
In the mean time climate change toddles on unreported.
Drought in Africa, floods in China and it's all very quiet if the Gulf Oil spill could be out in the North Atlantic screwing up the Gulf Stream.
Add in Codex Alimantarius and a very real, very insidious campaign to get us to accept GM foods and I'm no longer scared, I'm **&^%$* terrified.
The Bible may well say Man shall have lordship and dominion but that doesn't in any way mean Man is capable of lordship and dominion.
Our so-called leaders have done an impressive volt-face in trying to distance themselves from News Corp, and in the process seem to be manoeuvring for stringent controls of the press. Has anyone told them 1984 was a warning not a blueprint?
Frankly, if you aren't going to pay attention now and start educating yourself, then when would it be obvious enough for you that there's something going on.
I'm not sure which is scarier, a cunning plan by the Masters of the Universe, or just the inevitable breakdown in this civilisation which was always going to happen.
If you've got this far, read Ian R Crane, Jared Diamond and Roberto Vacca.
It's what you don't know that will bite you.
Hot of the press this morning is Rebbekah Brooks has resigned. I'm sure that will solve all the problems.

Reasons to be cheerfull?
I started writing a wee essay on what I thought and then it occurred to me that no-one else would ever read it. Probably no-one will read this but at least its somewhere they might.
Sound depressing? It should. I'm getting a bit depressed these days. After all the end of the world is nigh isn't it?
Climate change, Comets and Asteroids, Terrorism, New World Order, 2012 and a host of other WE'RE DOOMED calls from assorted numpties and weirdos.
Well maybe we are. If so it's probably our own fault as Einstein got it spot on. " The only two things which are infinite are the Universe and Human stupidity and I'm not sure about the Universe".
All though is not neccessarily lost. There are some intelligent people out there. There are some saying " Hang on a second, we could do this instead". They keep popping up when I research.
The plan is that you, dear reader, if you do indeed exist, will be able to see from here what I'm reading, by whom and what I think. Yes I know there are no Oxford commas but thats the way I roll!
No guarantees about numbers or frequency of posts, just live with what you get.
As a starter for 10, Peak oil seems to be raising it's profile a bit. Can I recommend http://www.wolfatthedoor.org.uk/
No doubt more later while the enthusiasm lasts.
